To scan your Scrolly, follow these steps:

Ready to Scan pop-up

If the pop-up is not appearing, please follow the steps:

2.1. Force quit the Scrolly app and reopen it
2.2. Restart your device
2.3. Make sure that your phone has 7.0 or newer version of Android
2.4. NFC is turned on on the phone. To turn on: Settings → Connection & sharing / More connectivity options → NFC

3. Place the front of the Scrolly against the NFC reader on your phone

4. If you scanned your Scrolly successfully, but the apps are still not blocked, please check the phone-specific setup guide below and complete the required system permissions.

I scanned Scrolly, but my apps still aren't blocked — what should I do?

Unfortunately, some Chinese Android phones use system overlays that can block Scrolly from working properly. We're working on a permanent fix, but in most cases you can solve the issue in Settings.
(In about 80% of cases, Step 1 and Step 2 are enough.)

🔧 Troubleshooting Guide

1️⃣

Disable battery saving and allow background activity for Scrolly

Go to Settings
Apps → Manage apps
→ Find Scrolly
Battery
→ Set No restrictions
→ Also enable Allow background activity

Xiaomi battery settings – No restrictions
2️⃣

Enable Autostart for Scrolly

Go to Settings
Apps → Autostart
→ Find Scrolly
→ Turn the switch ON

Xiaomi autostart – Scrolly enabled
3️⃣

Grant Usage Access permission

Go to Settings
Privacy & security
Special app permissions
Usage access
→ Select Scrolly
→ Enable access

Xiaomi usage access – Scrolly
4️⃣

Restart your phone

Turn your phone off and on again.
After restarting, open the Scrolly app and try blocking Instagram again.

Scrolly is not scanning / Scrolly stopped scanning (an error message pops up)

To reduce the risk of NFC failure, every Scrolly device has two NFC chips inside:

NFC chip 1 – located on the front (face) of Scrolly
NFC chip 2 – located on the back of Scrolly

Scrolly scan error – Could not read the tag

If an error message pops up after scanning Scrolly please:

1. Try scanning Scrolly again.
Xiaomi and Redmi phones often have weaker NFC readers, so the scanning area can be quite small. Place Scrolly in the center of the phone or close to the camera module and try again.
2. Flip Scrolly over and scan the other side.
3. Remove your phone case and try scanning again.
4. Restart your phone.
5. Reset the Scrolly app.
6. If the problem continues, contact us at support@scrollyapp.io

Can I block not only apps but also websites?

Unfortunately, on Android devices it is not possible to block websites inside web browsers.
